This Hollis project was a total renovation for function and energy efficiency. We shifted the kitchen and dining are to the back (south) side of the home and expanded the living area for an open interaction of these functions. The energy retrofit included replacing batt insulation with spray foam and shifting the upper insulation plane from the ceiling to the roof allowing mechanical equipment and ductwork to be placed in the conditioned space. A ground source heat pump (geothermal) system coupled with an energy efficient envelope ensure low cost heating and air conditioning.
